Nationwide research to identify digital capability development needs for the Aotearoa cultural sector

Government funded research to understand Digital Capability in the Aotearoa New Zealand GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) sector. The research objectives were: to assess the current state of digital capability of the GLAM sector, to understand capability gaps and their possible root cause, and to identify effective opportunities to address digital capability deficits.

A team of researchers carried out qualitative and quantitative research and analysis with over 300 participants over a 6 month period.

Outcome

This research provided the foundation for a NDF designed Digital Capability Program that is providing training and support for the cultural sector and has received $250,000 in funding and grants to date.
